Summing up celebration of the 150th anniversary of reburial of Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reminded that hardly any provision from the acts adopted by The Verkhovna Rada or the President´s Decree on celebration of anniversaries of death and reburial of the Great Kobzar has been implemented.

The Deputy Chairman deems necessary to complete construction works in the National Taras Shevchenko Reserve on Chernecha Mountain, and suspend any other works, "as no exhibition centers or other buildings should be constructed near the grave of Taras Shevchenko." "It is important to finish construction of Shevchenko cultural center, where exhibitions and conferences could be held," M.Tomenko stated.

It is no less important to order the academic heritage of the artist. M.Tomenko reminded that Kyiv authorities had not yet allotted a site for a special depositary for manuscripts of Taras Shevchenko and other classical Ukrainian writers with the manuscripts restoration department in the premises of the National Taras Shevchenko Reserve in Kyiv.

"To duly commemorate the prominent Ukrainian on the 200th anniversary of his birth, the authorities should immediately start fulfilling the plans," M.Tomenko summed up.
